PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP 3 – ROUND-UP

Superchin reached the quarter-finals of the Players Championship at the back end of last year and is gradually looking more and more dangerous.

He opened his account up with a confident 6-4 victory and 97.40 average against Danny Baggish. Frustratingly, Gurney didn’t quite hit those heights in his next match against Carlow’s Steve Lennon but still had too much for the Irishman, running out a 6-3 winner.

Perhaps unexpectedly, the two time PDC major winner was up against George Killington in the board final. And always in control, Gurney claimed a 6-4 victory with an average of 96.32.

Sadly, the Northern Irishman was unable to replicate that fine performance and fell short in the last 16, bowing out 6-4 to recent Masters champion, Joe Cullen.
