Gurney to baldy go for new look

DARYL GURNEY believes that the Michael van Gerwen and Rob Cross bald look can help him become World Champion!

The Northern Irishman is set to undertake a radical charity challenge in October – after pledging to shave his hair if he can raise £10,000 in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Care charity.

The World No.3’s closest friend, Aaron McMenamin, passed away in January 2017 after fighting the condition since birth, and remains a constant inspiration for Gurney.

Now Superchin has now pledged to shave his head during the Paddy Power Champions League of Darts if £10,000 is raised for the charity.

Gurney said: “Maybe the streamline look will help me become World Champion like Michael and Rob. It’s definitely worked for them over the past few years.

“Since they shaved their hair off, they won at the Ally Pally so hopefully it could be a good omen for me!

“Seriously though, this would mean so much to me to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Care in the memory of Aaron.

“I hope the darting family will come together to help me reach the target. Just £1 from everyone would get me there.”

Fans can donate through Daryl Gurney’s JustGiving page. Gurney has been drawn in Group B for the BBC-televised event, alongside Cross, Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price.
